Werd journal. What's it about, anyway?
The AR Newsletter has been getting rather ginormous and unreadable, so we're submitting them individually in a uniform style before $
Moonbeam13 compiles them into a Hot Topic article.

Miscategorizations
As several people have mentioned in journals and notes (and as I'm sure a lot more people have been frustrated by without saying anything), the Icons galleries have been awash in miscats since the new submission system kicked in.
The short story is things seem to be stabilizing and I've been able tonight for the first time in a long time to move stuff and have the thumbnail follow. Clean up ensues.
Here's the long story, for those of you who want to know what the bloody hell was going on:
Part of the mess was caused by people confused about the new category groupings submitting a panoply of miscategorized deviations, but even more frustratingly, the browse cache was lagging way behind, so despite my moving every miscat I found twice a day, the thumbs were still visible in the original galleries.
This happened more or less in all the Icons galleries, but some updated more efficiently than others, and some are less prone to having miscats in the first place.
Emoticons was hit the hardest because it is a target for every confused or careless person who thinks "emotion" applies to their work. That's a hellabig group of people, let me tell you. It was also the gallery with the slowest updating browse cache, a deadly combination for anyone who enjoys browsing actual emoticons instead of a mongrel collection of vastly divergent deviations.
The good news is over the past two days I've noticed the cache has almost caught up. The thumbnails have mainly gone to their proper homes, with the exception of anything I moved to scraps, and random entries in the slower-moving galleries like IconPackager.
I've had to re-move some deviations just to give the cache a kick in the ass, so don't think I've lobotomized myself beating my head on the keyboard if you get a second note about a deviation of yours getting moved.
Hopefully everything will be caught up shortly.
So thank you very kindly for your patience during this frustrating period, and thank you even more for not flooding me with section violation reports while I continued to work on moves that didn't seem to, well,
move at all.
Speaking of reports, any time you can suggest a new location for a section violation you're reporting, please do so. Some of these pieces belong in galleries I don't know very much about, and I like to avoid inflicting my miscats on other poor, benighted GDs.
Daily Deviation Suggestions
My position on them can be summed up succinctly with:

.
I need more suggestions from all of the Icons galleries. Please note me when you come across something that you think would make a good feature. I know some GDs are deluged with suggestions, but I'm not one of them so bring it on.
Please ensure the piece you're suggesting is not an entry in an active contest or created by someone who has received a DD in the recent past (within 6 months or so).
Contests & Results
- $Moonbeam13 has got a yuge contest going on to ensure her avatar, CSS and id represent her sense of herself. Submit your brilliant witch-themed avatars to vie for some rather fantastic prizes.
- Blithering Idiom is a contest to make a literal emoticon representation of common English idioms hosted by yours truly. Rules and info for the contest here, a list of the fantastic entries here.
- Remember when you begged your dad to build you a treefort and he told you your mother treats him like a handyman enough and he'll be damned if he lets anyone else treat him like a damned servant in his own damned home, much less his minor dependent frikkin child? Well, now you can work out your childhood trauma with emotes in #treefort's emoticon contest.

Thank you for the vote of confidence. It's been a trying time, no question, especially since all the moving I was doing that seemed to go nowhere took AGES thanks to site slowdowns.

I'm usually ahead of reports because I browse the gallery once in the morning and once at night, prowling for miscats. I love getting reports that suggest a new location because some of these things belong in galleries I'm not very familiar with.
